Ask your mind to stop thinking for a bit? At the precise moment, innumerable thoughts will come up to keep you engaged. Well, this is the nature of our mind.
Mind is the master.
Majority of us identify ourselves as our mind. What we lack to realize is that mind has It’s own identity. Just as our body is a tool to hold our soul, our mind is a tool to navigate this world.
Think outside the box.
Our mind offers solutions, analyses situations based on past experiences. We are thus trapped in our past patterns thinking, “Why does it always happens this way?”. Little do we realize that our mind is letting the past rule us and we are unable to fathom new ideas and solutions.
Everything is logical.
Our mind adds logic to everything based on the limited knowledge it has. We stick to it because we are afraid of the unknown. We fail to recognize that we are just a spec in the universe and there is so much that we don’t understand.
Losing our mind.
Our mind is afraid to lose it’s superior position. Whenever in panic, it makes up random stories and situations to draw our attention. Notice how many baseless worries and thoughts run through our mind in a day. Count the times where your mind was actually in the present moment without thinking of the past or the future.
When used right, our mind is a powerful tool. They key is to become it’s master. This takes a lot of practice and awareness since we have been conditioned to give our mind priority. It’s a journey in itself. But unless you start, you will never achieve!
“What a liberation to realize that the “voice in my head” is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees that.”
― Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
